Outright Entrepreneurs: Relevant Trafik is the Entertainment World’s Social Media Partner

“Why invest time, energy, and money in driving traffic to your site if you don’t get an immediate return on your investment?” asks RelevantTrafik.com.  “To increase your sales, you have to reach out and touch your customers in a way that traditional marketing strategies can’t.”

Relevant Trafik Helps Companies Connect with Customers Through Social MediaRelevant Trafik founder Gary Nicholson provides a one stop web shop for, among others, clients in the entertainment, literature and real estate industries in the Southern California area and beyond.  Their mission is simple – to help companies craft their mission statements and then get found in the online world. To achieve these aims, Relevant Trafik uses strategies such as search engine optimization (SEO) and social media to brand their clients and then get them in front of an interested audience.

Nicholson himself has been doing web development for 10 years and SEO for five, and started Relevant Trafik when he realized that there was a huge need to connect interested companies with social media strategies.

What makes Relevant Trafik different? Says Nicholson, “Our work is quality. We go the extra mile to make it standout. And we don’t promise the first page of Google, because that isn’t always possible. Instead, we craft a brand to the point where it holds a lot of legitimacy in the market. We consult with clients before hand, and create their vision.”

As for his smartest move as a business owner, Nicholson cites specialization. “We are focusing on entertainment clients, and from there, we will have leverage to expand into SEO for the entertainment industry.”

What was his biggest mistake as a business owner? Nicholson admits to not charging enough for his services at first.  “It takes time to figure out the market, what people are charging, and what your services are worth.”  In fact, the financial model has been his biggest challenge as a business owner.

On the other hand, Nicholson’s biggest reward as a business owner has been working with passionate clients. He’s choosy about who he works with. “When I’m first interviewing new clients, I try to see what their focus and passion is. If they are passionate, I will take them on as a new client. If they are simply in it to get on the first page of Google and make tons of money, I probably won’t take them on.”

Nicholson’s advice to new business owners is to research, research, research. He said he used blogs and Twitter, small business classes and advice from other small business owners to inform his own decision to start a small business. He also highly recommends talking to a lawyer about contracts and other legalities.

His last word of advice is to understand the psychology of clients. Some are easy to work with, some are difficult, but in the end it all just boils down to communication. Spoken like a true social media expert!

Gary Nicholson is the project manager and co-owner of Relevant Trafik.
